Being totally transparent here, except for a tabletop Christmas tree setup in my entryway, this is the only holiday decor in My Wee Abode. Last year, my Christmas tree and home tour was already finished and ready to enjoy by October 30th! #blogginglife
Be on the lookout for this year’s home tour. I can’t wait to share all the pastel Christmas decor with you at the end of the month!
This year, My Wee Abode is all about pastels… specifically pink/white/silver (with maybe a touch of muted red). What better way to start this year than with a sparkly pastel centerpiece with sugared fruits!
Common Question about Christmas Centerpieces
What Can I Use for a Christmas Centerpiece?
You can use just about any Christmas decor item you have on hand for a Christmas centerpiece. Think evergreens, ornaments, sprigs of berries, garlands, sugared fruits, jingle bells, pine cones, and more!
How Can I Make My House More Christmassy?
Add a Christmas centerpiece, of course! Adding a touch of Christmas to your dining room table is a great way to add some festive holiday spirit to your home!
What Are the Pastel Colors for Christmas?
The sky is the limit for a pastel Christmas palette. Include pinks, sky blues, light aquas, pale citron, muted reds, and mint greens to start! Adding lots of white, silver, and gold gives the pastels a sparkle and elevates your light Christmas colors, as well!
Now, let’s get to the tutorial!
Steps for How to Create a Pastel Christmas Centerpiece with Faux Sugared Fruits
You may find that the items I used are items YOU already have in your home! If not, items are linked below for your convenience!
Items You’ll Need

Now, for the nitty-gritty simple steps!
Set Your Foundation
- Start with a clean table… that will get messy through the process, but you might as well start out clean.
- Set out your two garlands, staggered, with one hanging off one end of the table and the other hanging off the other end. Intertwine the two ends on the table, which will give a thicker garland in the center (Photos 1 & 2).
![how to create a pastel christmas centerpiece with faux sugared fruits steps 1 through 4](http://myweeabode.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Pastel-Christmas-Centerpiece-35.jpg)
- Using a large white bowl (I used white to compliment the pastel colors… you can use whatever floats your boat), place in center of the garlands and fill with moss. If you need height for your candle, add a ‘riser’ of sorts (like a small bowl or pedestal) (Photo 3). Pro-tip: If needed, use mounting putty to keep the bowl in place.
- Add your tallest candle to the center of the bowl. For some extra glimmer and interest, wrap some sparkly tulle around your candles and tie in a knot on the front (Photo 4).
Add Your Sugared Fruit and Fluff
![steps for how to create a pastel christmas centerpiece with sugared fruits](http://myweeabode.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Pastel-Christmas-Centerpiece-36.jpg)
- Add your fake sugared fruits to the bowl, placing them in an interesting arrangement… turn tops and bottoms of the fruits in different directions (Photo 5).
- Add sprigs of greenery and other natural elements to create interest. I also added some sparkly pinecones after this photos was taken (Photo 6). Use the sprigs of greenery to lift and add different heights to the fruits.
- One either end of the garland/table, add another candle (use another pedestal for height, if needed), and a couple more pieces of faux sugared fruits (Photos 7 and 8).
- Fluff your garland and add the sparkly pine cones, or even sparkly berries until it looks just right to you!
Voila! You’re finished! (Except for wiping off all the rogue sparkles and such!)

The pale purple figs are quite festive, don’t you think?

What about with the lights out?
![how to create a pastel christmas centerpiece with faux sugared fruits dining table with centerpiece and lighted candles](http://myweeabode.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Pastel-Christmas-Centerpiece-22.jpg)
Add some twinkle lights to the garland, and inside the bowl, for an even nicer night-time ambience. Wish I had thought of that WHILE I was putting the arrangement together!
Why Sugared Fruits for a Pastel Christmas Centerpiece?
Back in the 1930s, when the Great Depression hit, things were tough. Families were strapped for cash, making it hard to splurge on gifts.
But oh, what a joy it was, almost like a little luxury, to discover a sweet orange or a handful of walnuts in your Christmas stocking instead.

And so, adding sugared fruits for Christmas decorations not only brings a sense of nostalgia, but also brings a touch of glimmer to any holiday space!

Different Types of Bowls for Your Pastel Christmas Centerpiece
You can use different types of vessels and bowls for your arrangement. Use the style that works best for you!
- White fruit bowls or milk glass bowls
- Ironstone or ceramic soup tureen Check the Goodwill and Salvation Army for a steal!
- Wooden dough bowls
- Wooden pedestal bowls, in natural or white
- Metal bowls (even copper)
- Woven bowls
Think outside-the-box, and use what you have! My white milk glass bowl was my mom’s before I was born! Now THAT’s OLD!

Pastel Christmas Centerpiece for a Small Dining Room Table
What if your table is too small for a large centerpiece like this one?
![how to create a pastel christmas centerpiece with faux sugared fruits dining table with centerpiece and candles](http://myweeabode.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Pastel-Christmas-Centerpiece-29.jpg)
Well, after I created this ‘grand’ centerpiece, I realized I couldn’t fit place settings on my little table! Oh my… tiny home problems!
If your Christmas dining room table is small like mine is, or even round, here’s a modified version of my dining table vignette that is easy to create.
![pastel christmas centerpiece with faux sugared fruits dining table with centerpiece and candles](http://myweeabode.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Pastel-Christmas-Centerpiece-30.jpg)
Simply eliminate the garland and gather sparkly pine sprigs and pine cones around the base of the bowl! You might want to keep the side candles, as well! Easy peasy!
![how to create a pastel christmas centerpiece with faux sugared fruits dining table with centerpiece and candles](http://myweeabode.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Pastel-Christmas-Centerpiece-33.jpg)
And you still have the sparkle!
You might want to add a table runner underneath this modified version. Since I’m still learning how to decorate a dining room table, I actually didn’t think of this element until AFTER I wrote this post! LOL!
